The Somerset Physical Activity on Referral Scheme is specially designed for healthcare professionals who wish to refer their patients to exercise in a leisure facility or community setting. The scheme is supported by a number of accredited leisure providers across the county with highly trained Fitness Instructors who are able to review existing health conditions and develop personalised exercise programmes that are safe and effective in managing these.
In April 2022, SASP was awarded the new contract by Somerset County Council and will lead on the scheme for the next three years. SASP has taken on the overall co-ordination and management of the Somerset Physical Activity on Referral scheme, now named ProActive, and is working to review current operating procedures, developing a new process and structure and working across the county to ensure we deliver a service that is high quality, accessible and well supported. SASP will be launching the new Somerset Physical Activity on Referral Scheme in June 2022.
