Weight Management

Being active doesn’t have to mean intense exercise or big lifestyle changes. Even small amounts of regular movement can make a real difference to how you feel, both now and in the future.

Moving your body more often helps to protect your health in lots of ways. It can lower the risk of long-term conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and some cancers, and can help you feel more energised and confident in everyday life, as well as lowering your risk of early death by 30%.

Health and Wellbeing Support

The SASP Health and Wellbeing Coaching service, in partnership with primary care networks, supports people with long term conditions to access physical activity to promote and protect their health. If you are living with a long term health condition, or are ready to take control of your health, our team of Health and Wellbeing Coaches can support you to make positive and sustainable changes to your lifestyle.

Being more active can help by:

  • Supporting your heart and overall health: Regular movement can help lower blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels, which all play an important role in keeping your heart healthy.

  • Boosting mood and reducing stress: Activity releases endorphins that can help lift your mood and reduce stress. Taking part in group activities can also be a great way to meet others, feel connected and enjoy yourself.

  • Keeping your body moving well: Staying active helps keep muscles strong, joints flexible and can support your body’s natural ways of managing aches and pains. Many people also find they feel better after activity when it becomes part of their routine.
