Heart Health

High blood pressure (hypertension) and other heart-related conditions are common, but with the right support, they can be managed effectively. Small changes in lifestyle, regular physical activity, and knowing your numbers can have a big impact on your heart health and overall wellbeing.

Being active can help by:

  • Lowering blood pressure and supporting your heart: Regular movement helps your heart work more efficiently and can lower blood pressure over time. This reduces the strain on your heart and lowers the risk of heart disease, stroke and other complications.
  • Improving circulation and energy levels: Staying active helps improve blood flow around the body, which can leave you feeling more energised and less breathless during daily activities. Over time, everyday tasks like walking, shopping or climbing stairs may feel easier.
  • Supporting a healthy weight and cholesterol levels: Regular activity can help manage weight and improve cholesterol levels, both of which play an important role in heart health. Small, consistent changes can have a big impact over time.
  • Boosting mood and confidence: Living with a heart condition can sometimes feel worrying or overwhelming. Being active helps reduce stress, improve mood and build confidence in what your body can do. Group activities also offer a chance to meet others, feel supported and enjoy moving together.
