Disability Sport & Physical Activity

As well as the positive health benefits of an active lifestyle, sport and physical activity provide opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence, resilience and self-esteem. The benefits are universal for all children, including those with disabilities and additional needs. However, it is estimated that approximately 85% of young people with disabilities and additional needs do not take part in regular physical activity. In addition, siblings of children with disabilities are also less physically active than their peers.

SASP is committed to increasing the range of opportunities in disability and inclusion sports in Somerset. Below you will be able to find more information on the sessions that we offer, which help to support those with additional barriers to participation.
