Health Professionals

We have developed various training opportunities aimed at supporting health, social care, voluntary, and community sector workers in promoting physical activity and positive movement.

Move More Live Longer Better

A SASP workshop designed to help staff in community, health, housing, and social care roles encourage positive conversations about physical activity. The training covers national guidelines, benefits of activity, ways to keep older adults active, local falls prevention resources, barriers and solutions, and goal-setting strategies. It also introduces SASP’s programs for active ageing. After the workshop, participants receive ongoing support and a resource pack with tips and further information.

Training prepares volunteers to lead local walks for Somerset’s Health Walks programme. Volunteers get national training delivered locally, ongoing support, and access to resources. The role includes planning routes, handling paperwork, leading walks, and attending occasional meetings or extra training.
