FREE TO ATTEND COMMUNITY VILLAGE

Tuesday, 27th October 9.00am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm

West Somerset College, Bircham Rd, Minehead TA24 6AY

Join us for a free health and wellbeing event.

Local services, health and wellbeing partners, and voluntary organisations will all be in one place, making it easier to find support near you.
The event may be especially useful for people with ongoing pain or mobility problems, older people, anyone who feels isolated or lonely, or anyone looking for help to stay active, connected and independent.

 What is the Community Village?

The Community Village is an open, drop‑in space where you can:

  • Meet voluntary, community and wellbeing organisations from across Minehead and the surrounding area, and Somerset
  • Find out what support is available in your neighbourhood
  • Ask questions and pick up information
  • Make connections that support you now, and in the future

You don’t need an appointment, just drop in at a time that suits you.

Please note, in order to ensure attendees can get the full benefit from the event, last entry will be at 3.45pm. The event will be closed from 12.30pm-1.30pm.

Steph Moreland, Senior Project Officer for Health:

The Community Village is a welcoming space where local people can explore services, ask questions and build connections. Whether you’re looking for support for yourself or someone you know, you’re welcome to drop in for a friendly conversation. From housing and challenges at work to finding ways to get involved in the local community and looking after your health and wellbeing, the Community Village is a place to discover what support and opportunities are available locally.

We hope everyone leaves feeling informed, supported and more connected to their community, with a better understanding of the help and opportunities available to them, both now and in the future”.

Also taking place on the day

Alongside the Community Village, invited patients from local GP practices will be attending planned health appointments.

These include musculoskeletal (MSK) and physiotherapy services, delivered by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust as part of a coordinated, appointment only programme (a Community Appointment Day). After appointments, patients will have the opportunity to attend the Community Village, to get information on the wide range of support available locally.

For more information on what to expect at pre-booked appointments, please visit the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust website..

Hear from one of the physiotherapists:

“The day is just as beneficial for us as it is for our patients. We know that when patients connect with the services available at events like this, they have a much greater chance of staying engaged with their recovery. This includes opportunities such as the exercise classes run by SASP, as well as accessing support with other aspects of their day-to-day lives. By connecting people with the right services and support, we can help them take a more holistic approach to their health, wellbeing and recovery.”
Please note: These clinical appointments are by invitation only and are not part of the drop‑in Community Village. Patients attending these sessions will receive all details directly.
