Mental Health Awareness - Wellington

Sport Welfare

Mental Health Awareness Training

This session offers a thoughtful and compassionate introduction to mental health, recognising that it is something we all experience in different ways. The focus is on understanding, and on being human with one another.

You can expect the session to gently explore:

  • What we mean when we talk about mental health and why it matters to everyone
  • How early life experiences and trauma can shape the way we think, feel and respond
  • The nervous system and how our bodies react under stress or threat
  • Self-harm and suicide, approached with care, respect and sensitivity
  • The importance of language, kindness and being listened to
  • How trusted relationships can make a meaningful difference
  • Knowing our role and our limits, including when and how to signpost support

The training is delivered in a supportive and safe space, with no expectation to share personal experiences. Space is allowed for reflection, and participants are welcome to step out at any point if they need to.
