Year 5 Gym Festival
150 students from St Josephs, St Marys and Westover Green took part in a Year 5 gymnastics festival at Haygrove School. The leaders, provided by Haygrove did an excellent job, instructing the children in vault, trampette, floor gym, balance activities, rhythmic gym and floor routines.
PE Extension Festival
30 children selected from local primary schools took part in a festival designed to challenge them in PE. The children took park in activities such as volleyball and used their tactics in an invasion game and then challenged themselves in some physical challenges to beat their personal best. We had some excellent support from the leaders at Robert Blake Science College who worked with the children and challenged them to improve their abilities.
Tag Rugby Friendly
15 teams took part in a friendly Tag Rugby competition at North Petherton Rugby club, Shapwick School provided us with some leaders who did great job. All of the teams had a great time and enjoyed playing lots of games during the afternoon.
6 teams came together at Robert Blake Science college for our first ever Girls Only Netball festival, we had music and loads of fun, for some of the girls it was their first time representing the school in PE and Sport. Thank you to the Leaders from Robert Blake Science College. A great afternoon of Sport.

Somerset FA and Berrow JFC came along an d delivered a coaching session prior to the competition at Robert Blake Science College. The weather wasn't kind to us but the 100 girls that took part loved the football so much they didn't really even notice. I would like to thank Robert Blake Science College for hosting this event and to thank the leaders who came along to support it. A great event!
PE Curriculum festival - enhanced service
2 Year 5 Leadership Festivals were held at St Mary's School with St Joseph's and also at Westover Green School. 150 Year 5 students recieved training on how to lead small games, what makes a good leader and how they can develop their leadership skills. Everyone took up the challenge to leader their piers which is not an easy thing to do and everyone was successful at leading in the small games.
Despite the grey damp weather, the Year 2 students from St Joseph's Primary School, St Mary's Primary School and Westover Green Primary School enjoyed themselves enormously at the Year 2 Fundemental Movement Skills Festival! We developed jumping, co-ordination, running and throwing by using 8 different stations of activities delivered by Haygrove Sports Leaders.

Two KS1 festivals took place this week for 250 children with leaders from St Mary's Primary School, St Joseph's Primary School Haygrove and Robert Blake Science College. The festivals were based around the fundamental move be skills and used REAL PE games. Popping Pirates was a real hit! Much fun was had by all.
7 teams took part in a friendly rounders tournament on Monday 16th May at North Petherton Cricket Club. Great fun! Thank you to the cricket club for letting us use their facilities.
Year 6 Alternative Games Festival
A great festival at Haygrove School with 120 children from Westover Green School, St Josephs School and Enmore. The Year 6's took part in Lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee, Rounders and Javelin. It was an excellent opportunity to relax following working so hard during their SATS. Ultimate frisbee was a real hit!
