About the Revive Programme

The Revive Activity programme offers individuals (18+) experiencing drug and alcohol addiction issues and or mental health challenges the chance to get active and enjoy some new physical activity experiences.

Revive sessions welcome people at whatever stage of their recovery journey they may be at, and are also suitable for those who are temporarily sober or drug free. The Revive programme is fully inclusive and is open to people of all abilities and experience levels.

The programme offers a variety of fun, casual and sociable activity sessions. The aim is to provide participants with the chance to reap the physical and emotional benefits of exercise, along with offering them the opportunity to socialise in new environments.

As well as group sessions the Revive programme also offers 1 to 1 mentoring with our Sports Mentors. This involves doing some physical activity (often a walk and talk) whilst getting support and guidance from a Revive Sports mentor with any current issues you may be facing. To get involved simply click here, or the link above for the 1 to 1 nomination link and fill out the form. A Sports mentor will then contact you and arrange a meeting.

All of the sessions are delivered by our amazing Revive Sports Mentors, many of which have lived experience with addiction issues. Mentors are able to fully support participants at the sessions and have the knowledge and experience to sign post them to any further relevant support services if needed. SASP are also able to support clients if they wish to enter or get involved with sports clubs/exercise/activity sessions in their local area.

The great thing about the Revive project is that we are partnered with PLUSS which means clients who are thinking about re-entering employment or volunteering opportunities can do so with the help and support of a PLUSS change coach.

The Vision

At SASP we are extremely passionate about providing sport and physical activity opportunities to everybody in Somerset whatever their physical ability, personal background, and current lifestyle circumstances. We truly believe physical activity is not only a key component in health and wellbeing but also has the unique ability to bring people together, build confidence, renew social skills and rebuild lives.

Working alongside our partner organisations, participants on the programme can utilise the skills of an employment coach to further their personal development and find volunteer or employment opportunities. This offers participants an extremely positive gateway to reintegrate fully back into society.

The Revive Programme empowers individuals to take action for themselves and gives them opportunities to meet new people, build up their confidence and resilience and provides a pathway to access mainstream sports clubs if they choose.
