Take The First Step - Become A Change Maker
Posted: Tue, 3 Sep 2024 17:00
Are you an adult, living in Somerset? Would you like to feel a bit fitter and more active, but struggling to make it stick?
We are looking for people, like you, who are willing to share their story as they go through the process of figuring out how to fit even a little more healthy movement into their lives – we would love to follow, and support you so that your stories might inspire other people facing similar challenges in their own lives.
For some people, being fit and active seems easy, but others of us are juggling challenges such as work schedules, being a parent or carer, long term health conditions, disability or simply not being able to find that thing that is right for us.
Could you take part in a 6 month (minimum) programme, run by our health coach team and others in SASP, to explore your motivation, interests and the things that get in the way when you try to make a change and be more active?
We are asking that you are available for an hour, every 2 weeks, to check in and talk to our coaches. We would need you to feel comfortable to chat about your progress and challenges on camera, and for us to share clips, images and written quotes on the SASP social media platforms.
We would like you to be ready and willing to try small changes in your life. We will support you with this whatever your unique situation.
We have a couple of restrictions: You will need to be over 18. We need you to be safe to try a small increase in how much or often you move your body. You certainly don't need to be fit or sporty, but if your doctor has told you not to exert yourself at all, we won't be able to include you at this time. This includes those who have had recent surgery. If you have recently had a heart attack or stroke, or have unstable angina, you will need to complete your rehab programme and be declared ready to move on.
