DEADLINE EXTENDED: Avon & Somerset Police - Audit of Sport & Physical Activity Provision for Young People - Take the Survey

The Avon & Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner has tasked the National Charity StreetGames with completing an audit of the provision of sport and physical activity opportunities, which is aimed at supporting young people who face disadvantage, may be vulnerable and at risk of exclusion or criminality / violence.

StreetGames UK has been working across the country to undertake audits of provision, working through the network of Police and Crime Commissioners and local partners to reach individual providers. The results are then shared with local partners.

Over the course of the next few weeks, StreetGames is auditing the Avon and Somerset Police area to identify what is available and where gaps might exist. The survey seeks to capture which organisations exist, where they operate, what services/activities they provide, who they seek to involve and how they operate.

Every response to the survey will help us to collate and build a more detailed understanding of provision, with sessions geographically mapped, identifying areas of high provision and where there may be gaps. Such insight can then be overlaid with other analysis, such as areas of deprivation and wider determinants of youth violence and exploitation. By working with local partners (across the public, community and voluntary sectors) this work will seek to inform future service commissioning, delivery and evaluation.

Please complete the survey on behalf of your own organisation and if you can assist us in promoting the survey please forward to any other contacts/providers you may have.

The survey is open to organisations working in any sector across the Avon and Somerset Policing area, which regularly deliver sport and/or physical activity for children and young people aged 10-25 years old, who are more likely to be deemed vulnerable to exploitation and are at an increased risk of becoming involved in crime.

If this sounds like your organisation, you can complete the survey until 26th January. Please find the link to the survey which also contains a short briefing provided by StreetGames:

Every response to the survey will help to map current provision for young people across Avon and Somerset. This intelligence will then be used to look at how more community-led sport initiatives can be used to prevent and tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

If you have any queries, or would like any assistance please don't hesitate to contact the safer audit coordinator, Claire Greenwood –
