Beat the Street comes to an end with 45,737 miles covered

The 4 week active travel game - Beat the Street Bridgwater, has finally come to an end. SASP has worked in partnership with Intelligent Health, Sedgemoor District Council, Somerset County Council, Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and Sport England, who provided us with National Lottery funding to deliver this 4 week test and learn project.

Overall the game was a massive success with participants of all ages taking part, either walking, running, cycling or scooting from box to box. We had 4,349 players registered who covered 45,737 miles over the course of one month around Bridgwater. Our winning schools, early years settings and teams are as follows:

We have received so many positive comments from parents and Bridgwater residents,

"Thank you so much, me my partner and my kids have really enjoyed doing this, we have racked up 21,720 points between us and walked 802 miles (2 adults and 6 kids)."

"It has been amazing to see so many families on my travels around Bridgwater joining in! When you meet people at the boxes conversations are being struck up and we have had parents who don't normally speak setting up playing dates at the park for the weekend!"

"On a personal note I have clocked up 43 miles so far!!! My dog looks at me with dread in his eyes when I get home from work now. It's like he is saying "oh God how far are we going tonight!!!"

"We don't want it to finish as it has given everyone a purpose to go out and have fun. It is so amazing to see!"

Well done and congratulations to all that were involved in the game, what a fantastic effort!
