Coronavirus (COVID-19) - SASP Swim School Statement - 18th March 2020

Issued: Wednesday 18th March 2020

Dear Swim School Member,

Following the latest (17th March 2020) announcements from the Government and Swim England, the national governing body for swimming, Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership has taken the extremely difficult decision to postpone all Swim School lessons with immediate effect.

Swim England released a statement yesterday evening (17th March 2020), stating that "Swim schools should make an informed decision on future lessons based on the current guidance from the Government". Unfortunately, the current guidance from the Government is not explicit and the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG) advises that it is safe to go swimming at the current time.

However, the health and wellbeing of all Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership's customers, volunteers and staff continues to be our main priority. With this in mind and the fast-moving situation, we feel that we have reached the right decision.

We will be in contact with all affected customers to provide further detail around payments that have already been made. We will endeavour to do this as soon as possible and we appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.

At this time, we are unsure how long our Swim Schools will be postponed for and these are challenging times ahead for us all, but we thank you for your continued support and hope that your children will resume swimming with us as soon as it is safe to do so.

Kind Regards

Swim School Team
