March for Men - Revitalise Launch
Posted: Sun, 04 Feb 2018 10:46
Next month sees the launch of the new project Revitalise. Revitalise is a project that promotes Somerset based physical activity sessions which are delivered by qualified staff, making them particularly suitable for those living with cancer and beyond.
To launch this project, to raise awareness and unite in the fight against cancer, a select group of people will be taking part in March for Men on 10th March. Partners and representatives from all major sports clubs and organisations from across the County will be walking from Somerset County Cricket Ground along the canal path to Taunton Rugby Club in time for kick off against London Irish RFC.
Not only is this walk raising awareness of prostate cancer but also the many other cancers. Macmillan Cancer is working very closely with SASP to provide these sessions across the County for people living with and beyond cancer. SASP are driving the partnership between Partners and local organisations to deliver this project.
We look forward to welcoming a player from the County Cricket side, who will be walking with the group to the Rugby ground. This launch is inspired by events that took part a year ago by Soccer Saturday Legend Jeff Sterling who completed 15 marathon-length walks in 15 gruelling days, raising more than £800k for Prostate Cancer. We want to replicate the coming together of sports teams, walking together united but on a much smaller local scale.
