Leadership
SASP are also passionate about the development of leadership skills in young people (including those with SEND), a vision which is supported by the Youth Sport Trust. We work in partnership with the Lead Inclusion School (Westfield Academy), to ensure leadership skills are developed via school programmes including 'Step into Sport' and 'Active 30'. This is part of the Inclusion 2020 initiativean initiative that sits within the Department for Education SEND Inclusion in PE, School Sport and Physical Activity grant. Along with their personal development, the new skills will support the Young Leaders develop more opportunities for all pupils (including those with SEND) to engage in school sports activities (clubs) and competition.

Volunteering
Volunteers have always played a vital part in the sport and physical activity sector. Without them, most activity simply wouldn't happen. Approximately 150,000 Somerset residents volunteer at least once a month, many these in sport and physical activity.
Would you like to volunteer or 'lend a hand' with SASP? If you are interested in volunteering at any of our inclusive or disability sessions, please contact Carly Ridgwell.
