New Guidelines for Primary PE and Sport Funding
The Department for Education has this week issued new guidelines for primary schools detailing what they should and shouldn't be spending their money on.
After Government concerns that in previous years the funding has contributed to employing under qualified sports coaches to teach PE lessons, new guidance encourages schools not to do this.
A statement on the Department for Education website states that "[Schools] should not use funding to employ coaches or specialist teachers to cover planning preparation and assessment (PPA) arrangements". "This should come out of your core staffing budgets" Instead, head teachers are encouraged to "hire qualified sports coaches to work with teachers".
