About Health Analyst

We provide input and advice into understanding the health needs of the population, address health inequalities, determine priorities for action and assist wider understanding of the characteristics of the local population. This includes presenting complex statistical concepts and detailed information in a format that is accessible to various audiences.

This is a full-time post for a Public Health Intelligence Analyst or for a Senior Public Health Intelligence Analyst with existing skills and experience. Working hours are 37 per week from Monday to Friday, however, you may be required to work outside of normal office hours. You will work across the City Council and partner organisations to attend meetings with key stakeholders.

We will consider this post on a secondment basis for Leicester City Council employees only. If you wish to apply for this post on this basis, please ensure you have your line manager's approval before applying.

Your Role

You'll access, maintain, and interpret a broad range of complex information on health and its determinants, using appropriate statistical and epidemiological methodologies as well as local, regional, or national sources. Using effective data visualisation techniques and infographics, you'll provide guidance and training for colleagues such as Graduate Project Officers, Project Officers and Health Registrars in the specialist areas of data analysis and interpretation. Furthermore, you'll maintain and support development of visualisation software ensuring that there is user-friendly access to a comprehensive system of geographically based information on the local population. You'll support specific areas of work e.g. Health and Wellbeing Survey, Health needs assessments, and Health Equity Audits.

What you will need

You'll have proven experience in public health information management and analysis including providing and receiving complex information, querying, and extracting data, using statistical and epidemiological techniques, and producing reports and interpretation.

Using your experience in effectively communicating through written reports and verbal presentations to specialist and non-specialist groups you'll be able to guide and advise others in their decision-making process based on sound evidence. Using good organisation skills, you'll be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks. With tenacity and a creative approach, you'll be able to analyse complex data/information problems and provide effective solutions.
