Hello! I'm Alex Caird and I am the new School Games Organiser for Sedgemoor and Mendip and will also be delivering the Barclays Girls Football Schools Partnership program in West Somerset and Mendip.

I graduated university with a First Class Sport and Exercise Science degree which involved investigating the importance of developing young people rather than young performers. My attitude towards school sport and physical activity is that Physical Education is more than just physical!

Before working at SASP, I worked within a primary academy network that focused on empowering pupils through sporting interventions. During this time, I developed a new PE delivery program that focused on 5 key values that a performer could reflect on both before, during and after a lesson as an equal alternative to performance-focused outcomes. This positively improved transitions between lessons, emotion regulation of students, teacher-pupil feedback opportunities and inclusivity surrounding sport participation and competition.

I love to spend my spare time coaching football at North Curry Youth FC and working to give the youth a voice in football within Somerset as part of the Somerset FA Youth Council and Inclusion Awareness Group.

I am extremely passionate about developing young people through sport and very much look forward to working with dedicated, like-minded school sport educators from September 2022.
