What would make it easier and more appealing to be physically active, whatever your age here in Somerset? SASP and our partners have launched the big on line conversation to find out. Join in at a time to suit you until Friday 17th September 2021.

Being active is so important for our physical and mental fitness, never more so than during a pandemic. In Somerset we still have nearly a quarter of our adult population who are inactive and activity levels for children and young people have also dropped significantly over the past year. Lack of confidence, time pressures, ill health plus a thousand other things can make the decision to be active harder for some than others. How can we as individuals and our organisations make decisions easier for people to embed being active as a way of life. We want to hear your thoughts and ideas on how we improve the health and happiness of all of us in Somerset.

We are using padlet to capture all your responses, but also have 3 dedicated virtual sessions to capture your discussions and to give you an opportunity to share your thoughts, ideas and opinions with us.

We are holding 3 virtual consultation sessions:

Somerset Physical Activity and Sports Strategy – Community Sport and Leisure Providers Workshop - Mon 13th Sept

Somerset Physical Activity and Sports Strategy – Children and Young People Workshop - Wed 15th Sept

This workshop aims to explore the how the new strategy can support the development of positive experiences for all children and young people, providing a foundation for a long and healthy life. It will consider the role sport and physical could play in addressing inequalities and in improving the wellbeing of those most vulnerable children in Somerset. It will then look at how we can encourage young people to get the most out of life through the provision of community play, leisure, and sporting opportunities. It will seek to explore the barriers and what we need to do to bring about change in this important area.

Somerset Physical Activity and Sports Strategy – Addressing Health Inequalities Workshop - Mon 20th Sept

Please join us in these discussions or otherwise leave your responses through our online platform padlet here
