Welcome to Somerset Basketball webpage which is hosted by SASP and gives you a guide to basketball within the County. Basketball is one of the world’s fastest growing and most exciting sports accessible to players of all ages and abilities. Somerset has a number of basketball clubs that cater for players at both Local, Regional and National level. With the support of SASP and England Basketball the growth of the game within the county has been immense organising camps, 3 v 3, coaching forums and other basketball events.
- Choose which format of the game you would like to run. This could be 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 (all half-court) or 5v5 (full court) – IM Basketball is adaptable and can run with any number of teams male, female or mixed!
- Secure a regular slot at your basketball facility. We realise that availability can be limited – be flexible in your approach and make the case for basketball. IM Basketball does run better indoors...!
- Print off copies of the supplied posters and sign-up sheets and put them on show! We recommend halls of residence, faculty buildings, the university sports centre to name but a few. Of course Freshers Fair and the university basketball trials are excellent places to launch IM Basketball.
- Copy the details of each team into the League Creator – you now automatically have a fixture list and self-updating league table at your fingertips.
IM Basketball is now ready to go! Once your competition is established there will likely be a demand for participants wanting to obtain more formal qualifications. Details of how to go about organising training courses are also in this box.
