The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge

The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge is an exciting new programme to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee led by its Patron The Duke of Cambridge. It is a landmark project to create a permanent, tangible and relevant legacy from the two major events scheduled to occur in the UK in 2012; Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics. Active placesThe Active Places database includes information on a wide range of sports facilities – from sports halls to ski slopes, swimming pools to health and fitness. It includes local authority leisure facilities as well as commercial and club sites.
 
Access to the facilities falls into three basic categories:
 
Pay and play – where members of the public can simply turn up and pay a fee to use the facility.
 
Registered membership – where members of the public need to pay a registration fee to use the facility (i.e. gym membership).
 
Sports club or community association – where use of the facility is dependant on the users being members of a particular sports club or association.
